 Cymbal Dancer by Fayral
This huge Le Verrier lady is entitled 'Danseuse aux Cymbales' and she is the biggest sized version of this wonderful piece by Fayral. She is an original 1920s spelter figure measuring approx 20 inches high and is signed in the metal base, and also carries the Le Verrier founders mark. The pyramid Portorro Extra marble base measures 6.5 inches square at the base and is 4.5 inches high. The lady is slotted into the base in the usual Le Verrier style, and condition is very good with just a couple of nicks to the edges of the base and a few minor scratches to the patina.
Fayral and Guerbe were 2 pseudonyms used by the famous Pierre Le Faguays. Fayral and Guerbe were both the family names for his Mother and his Wife. Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France and became famous for the originality he gave his dancers, many of which were inspired by the statues of Tanagra. He gained a medal of honour for his work in 1927. He was a best friend of Max Le Verrier and the Le Verrier foundry made most of - if not all of his pieces.
